Mortgage Rescue Scheme
This is a Government scheme run via your Local Authority.
If you are eligible you could get financial help to stay in your home.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scheme your household must include someone in priority need:
This could be:
- A pregnant woman
- Someone with dependent children
- Someone who is vulnerable because of old age or a physical or mental disability/impairment
You also have to meet the following criteria:
- Your household earns less than £60,000 per annum
- Everyone named on the mortgage must be in agreement to be considered for the scheme
- Home value should not be higher than levels set by each region
- You must have entered into discussion with your mortgage lender re all available options
- You must not own a second home
- You have accessed and received debt counselling
You may then be eligible for help with either:
- Shared Equity Loan
- A Government Mortgage to Rent
